| But now the story has expanded! It's now 2014, our 22nd-year in business, and while the story's still not very glamorous, at least there's more to tell! For ya see, now the Fontry dudes are no longer the single guys who started a fledgling font empire. Yep, a few years ago, we both found women who would have us, and now we're packing wedding bands! James married the woman he had admired from afar for many years, while Mike (that's me!) got reacquainted with a high-school friend--quite by chance--and decided it was time for a relationship. James's wife, Lynn, supports him in all his font efforts, while LeVonna (my wife!!!) actually has some font work on this site to her credit. She's a real natural who can kick out letterforms like they're just so much simple math. Together, along with friends who support, harass and just generally embarrass us, we all form the Fontry. It seems like ages since that first Greek Pak. Now we're working on digital revivals of vintage alphabets by the likes of Alf R. Becker and Frank H. Atkinson, as well as designing radical new fonts and clip-art that could someday be mainstream fodder. Well, it's been fun and it's getting better. As the year 2000+ rolls on, we've got a lot of fonts coming your way, not to mention the freebies every month or so! So please come back and visit us often! It gives us a purpose in life! Oh, and the Mr. Smiley guy who's all over the site, that was Stirling's idea. Mr. Smiley was originally a default character that eventually became our mascot. | Our Greek font pak for the fraternity and sorority niche. Having found very few interesting Greek alphabets on the open market, we compiled our own collection of Greek letterforms into a dozen or so typefaces. Thus was born Greek Pak No. 1, the Fontry, and all of the bizarre and radical fonts we've been creating ever since. That year was 1993, give or take a few months. |
| KEEP SCROLLING FOR FONT LINKS, ORDERING INFO, etc., BUT FIRST, A LITTLE HISTORY ON THE FONTRY... The Fontry* has some rather humble beginnings. It's a short story starring Michael Gene Adkins and James L Stirling. We actually began life as a couple of good-old-boys from the country who teamed up in college to unlock the mysteries of desktop publishing before moving on to become graphic artists--eventually we migrated to screen printing and ultimately found ourselves playing the sign game. Along the way, however, something snapped in the sensibility centers of our brains. Suddenly, mundane jobs mysteriously required unique and unavailable typefaces that we were unwittingly forced to create in the wee hours of the night. A good case-in-point: |
